Date - 23rd May CY13
Location - Village of Peaceful
Forces required - Infantry units with some armour support. Up to 3 companies
Mission outline - Yesterdays failed attack on the dam appears to have been a diversion aimed at drawing forces away from Jersey City. Reconnaissance reports suggest that a large Sardarken force is heading for the Village of Peaceful. This is the largest force we have yet seen fielded by the Sardarkan.
We now feel that the village was the main target after all and that is consistent with what we know of Sardarken strategy. With our best units from the Jersey City Brigade stranded at the dam with some mercenary units, we do not feel that we have the means to stop this attack!
Therefore, the objective must be to evacuate as many civilians from the village as possible. We have sent some vehicles for this purpose.
Mission requirements - The mission requirements are to hold off the advancing Sardarken long enough to evacuate the entire village. The village has 1000 inhabitants and we will pay 10Cr for each one you save. Enough vehicles have been provided to extract all of the inhabitants.
Mercenary commanders will be expected to support government troops in this operation setting up defensive positions and coordinating the withdrawal.
The units assigned to this mission are all that is available at this short notice. That is the rest of 1st Battalion Jersey City Brigade not already deployed and one armoured company from the 2nd battalion plus the Brigade HQ. These troops are green and will need careful direction.
Intelligence suggests that the enemy will attack in two waves, with up to 4 companies in the first and 6 in the second. Intelligence also suggests that the enemy will have artillery support although we expect this to be used to shell the town as we have not yet seen any evidence that the Sardarken have learnt how to deploy artillery to support infantry actions.
Mission reimbursement - The Coopers World Military Finance Division are offering a basic contract price of 9000Cr for this mission plus 1000Cr per lorry load of 100 civilians successfully evacuated.
Mercenaries interested in the contract should submit their responses plus the forces they will be committing to the mission to the usual place by the end of the day.
Scenario rules.
The village will be made up of 150 squares each 4cm by 4cm. A stand or vehicle must fully occupy a square. If the base exceeds the size of one square, the unit will be considered to be in the square occupied by its front left corner.
There are 20 civilian stands in the village, each representing 50 civilians. These will be randomly placed at the start of the game as will the trucks.
Each turn, the civilians roll 2 D6 and act as a friendly player with no command adjustment. Civilians can leave the village only by the main road.
Any indirect fire targeted on the village will hit on a +2. To find out where the shells land in the village, a D150 will be rolled. (I have a plan for this!)
If a stand occupies a square hit by incoming fire, it will be rolled against as standard for a hitting artillery round.

Location - Village of Peaceful
Forces required - Command units plus mobile infantry and armour support. Up to 3 companies.
Mission outline - Following the devastating loss of the village of Peaceful to the Sardarken and the large losses inflicted on the Jersey City Brigade in recent encounters, the Coopers World Government have reviewed their policy on assisted missions.
Up to now, every mission has been made up of predominantly Government forces with a cadre of mercenary advisors. For this mission, however, the Government is looking for a completely mercenary led mission with no Government involvement.
Efforts to recover the village have been hampered by the loss of large numbers of reconnaissance forces due to heavy and accurate mortar fire from a unit believed to be in the enemy’s rear. This unit seems to be a complete battery of mortars and it needs to be located and destroyed.
We do not have the skills to track mortars accurately or the manoeuvrability to close and destroy these units if we could find them, hence the need for an all mercenary led mission.
Mission requirements - The mission requirements are to locate and destroy the enemy mortar unit to the East of the village of Peaceful. This will pave the way for us to launch a major attack on the village itself to reclaim it for its inhabitants.
The minimum requirements for this mission are mercenary units with the ability to track incoming mortar rounds and the firepower to neutralise the mortars themselves.
Intelligence suggests that the enemy in this sector is mostly infantry with perhaps five companies facing you. It is believed that once they realise they are coming under direct attack, the mortar unit will disperse and our opportunity will be lost. Therefore, speed is the key!
Mission reimbursement - The Coopers World Military Finance Division are offering a basic contract price of 11000Cr for this mission. Standard kill bonuses will be awarded plus a large bounty for any mortars killed and recovered.
Mercenaries interested in the contract should submit their responses plus the forces they will be committing to the mission to the usual place by the end of the day.
