Pressure Mounts on Jackson City

Things seem to be going from bad to worse on Coopers World with two large engagements in as many days showing that the lizards are far from subdued! This time, the battle centred around a munitions convoy travelling from Jefferson City to Jackson City on the only open road.
In the end, the convoy got through with light casualties but things did not go completely to plan as the two reports we have will testify.

Journey's Rest Attacked

Two days ago, the Sardarken launched a series of attacks on the small seaside town of Journey's Rest. The town was defended by an as yet untested company of the Carson City Brigade. Despite numerous pleas to the central Government for assistance, no help was forthcoming from Jefferson City. Thankfully, the first attack was repelled. However, the small defending unit could not hope to hold against the second, far larger attack, until the relief column arrived from Carson City. Therefore, in a move contrary to standard protocol, the Governor of Carson City made a direct plea to the mercenaries.
Swift action by the Starblazer Scouts and elements of the Young Lions and Scythian Sword resulted in the attack on the village being repulsed. However, this was not before at least 100 civilians were killed. At least another 200 are missing believed taken by the Sardarken.

Convoy Gets Through

News has reached us that the convoy ambushed by Sardarken on the road to Jackson City has successfully reached it's destination thanks to the intervention of several mercenary companies under the command of Captain de la Croix. The mercenaries included another new company, the Black Watch.

Key Bridge Destroyed - Latest Breaking News.

We have just received news that the only bridge over the Kalamain River between Jersey City and Jackson City has been destroyed by the Sardaken. This cuts one of the two routes into the city and means the only route left for supply convoys is over the mountains. The same route along which yesterdays convoy was ambuished!

Sardarken Ambushes Increase

Two fierce ambushes have occured in the last two days against supply convoys heading to Jackson City. The first, four days ago, was against a food convoy moving along the Northern road and the small convoy was completely destroyed with no survivors.
The second was only yesterday and the convoy seems to have gotten lucky.
A statement from the Coopers World Government reads as follows.
'Moving along the road from Maddison Heights, the convoy commander had deployed scout elements forward and these detected Sardarken positions blocking the road. Just as the convoy was about to come into range of these positions, the commander of the 3 vehicle scout section charged the Sardarken lines to make them reveal their presence and the ambush was sprung. Shortly afterwards, all three vehicles were destroyed by accurate anti vehicle fire. We owe a great debt to Leutenant Samuels who gave her life to save her comrades.'


Peaceful Liberated

Statement from Coopers World Government.
'Government forces led by Major Conrad, a resident of the village, recently liberated  the village of  Peaceful and dealt a major blow to the Yellowbacks. Lizards were seen flleing from the battlefield and, for the first time, leaving their equipment behind.
Special thanks is given to all of the mercenary companies which took part in the engagement and assisted the brave troops of Jefferson City as they pushed the Sardarken from the homes of Coopers World citizens. In a valiant gesture of defiance, the former citizens of Peaceful have already started moving back into their homes under the watchful eyes of the Government troops.'

Too many cooks?

Yesterday, it was confirmed that yet another mercenary company has arrived on Coopers World. The Scythian Sword are a small but highly competent mercenary unit comanded by Reinhardt Scythia. Little is known about Scythia so we will be watching with interest! 

A New Market?

We have received reports that several of the mercenary companies based on Coopers World have travelled to a backwater called Glory Be to help local government forces supress some outlaws. A strong Coopers World government presence was reported as accompanying the mission amidst speculation that the CMC was somehow tied up in the whole affair. We have as yet received no comment from CMC.

Lizards getting the upper hand?

Reports coming in from Coopers World suggest that the Government is failing in its attempts to gain control of the planet. It appears that only the six mercenaries companies  have been able to stand against the lizards in battle. The latest disaster saw an entire company of mechanised infantry wiped out in an ambush. Reports suggest the troops were unprepared and reacted slowly. Although they seem to have fought well, their initial naivety and lack of preparation cost them their lives. Of the 120 men thought to have been in the company, only 23 survived. All of them were wounded!

We have just heard that the engineering division of the Manncorps Arms Company is setting up a workshop facility in Jefferson City on Coopers World.
This is in response to the increasing numbers of mercenary units flocking to the planet and their commander's legendary lust for bigger and better equipment.
The facility will be able to repair most vehicles, weapons and systems for a price and undertake custom work.
Due to restrictions placed on the new facility by the government, only items available on the planet or brought to the facility by the customer can be used in any modifications.
The facility will be opening on the 12th June of this year.

Yet another mercenary company has joined the burgeoning ranks on our favourite little war torn planet. Coopers Regiment of Horse opened their account along with a couple of other units in a small skirmish with insurgent units. Our 'reporter' on the scene, Captain Ostlund has forwarded his observations on the engagement.

Breaking News! - Supply crisis!

Just before putting this issue to cyberspace, we had some disturbing news from the planet Pharos in the Delta 653 system in the Andulon quadrant of the galaxy.

 The planet is the third of four planets in the system and is the only planet with a climate that can readily support life. The planet has seven moons and it is one of these moons that provides most of the planets wealth.
Pharos 3, otherwise known as Scanaros, has massive deposits of mobidium, a rare alloy used extensively in industry to make strong, light machinery and is the key component used to make rail gun ammunition.
Two weeks ago, a large asteroid entered the system and headed straight for Pharos. The planets astronomers saw the asteroid far too late in the day to do anything about it but fortunately, the planets moons got in the way and intercepted the asteroid.
Unfortunately, Scanaros was almost completely destroyed in the impact killing every one of the 25,000 people living on the moon and running the mining operation.
In a blink of an eye, the planets only export and its entire livelihood was swept away.
As well as that, the planet suffered a massive asteroid storm caused by the remnants of the moon falling to the planets surface. Thousands more died and billions of credits damage was caused to the planets cities. Shortly after, strong storms and freak weather started lashing the planet. The planets magnetic field had been changed irrevocably by the destruction of one of its moons and the after affects could be only just beginning.

'What does this mean to us?' I hear you cry! Well, lots of things and none of them good. Pharos was the largest supplier of mobidium in the quadrant so we can expect supplies of rail gun ammunition to become scarce for a while.

Mercenary business looking up in Andulon

The upsurge in activity in this quadrant is starting to draw mercenary talent to the area looking for work. This month, we have quite a few quality units looking for a new paymaster. There are 2 vehicle crews, 2 artillery crews and 1 infantry squad. All of them are hardened veterans.
Offers of employment should be made to the usual address within one week although I'd get in quick as these guys are bound to be snapped up real fast!

Coopers World - Where the action is!

We have received reports that a fifth mercenary company has set up base on the war torn planet of Coopers World and has already seen action. So desperate were the government for seasoned troops to bail them out of their latest crisis that the Praetorian Company, led by Captain Ewart Wright went straight into battle from the Starport. According to the battle report we received from the now famous Captain Ostlund, the Praetorians did fairly well. Although the engagement has shown that the government appears to be losing their battle against the natives. Possibly, thia explains why we have heard nothing from official sources about the loss of 150 civilians and the evacuation of a whole village!
