Talis 4   Quarantine

The outbreak of a severe case of Talis fever has effectively quarantined the planet for the immediate future.    The Government was taken by surprise by these events and a large section of the capital has been taken over by the `rabid’ hordes of victims.  It is believed that due to the rapid spread as many as 10,000 inhabitants may be affected.  

The contingency plans for dealing with a major outbreak have proved to be utterly inadequate.   The main military base (where nuclear weapons to `sanitize’ an outbreak) were held, has been overrun.    The main hospital where some stocks of vaccine are held (and the main Tanis fever research team are based) is surrounded by the `hordes’

Most police and other civil defence personnel have simply abandoned their posts and are currently fleeing the capital.   A few remaining government ministers remain in the capital but are trapped in their bunkers.

Your tiny force of mercs along with a small number of police, and three shuttles are currently located some 15km outside of the capital.    There are a number of options.

The police with you are in touch with the Government.   The Government need the following actions to be undertaken.

1.   Get to the Hospital and rescue the `Fever control’ team.    This is an elite team of around 12 medics who are experts in the control of this disease.
2. Rescue the government team from their bunker

They will pay handsomely for completing these missions.

You will not be able to arm the nucs without codes.  These are held in the government bunker.    The government team will not release either the codes or permission to use the weapons without first extracting the medical team (and of course the politicians and civil servants in the bunker).

Your best chance of getting into the affected parts of the city is using the shuttles in combination with your limited ground forces.    However, the shuttles to not currently have any fuel, so before you can embark on any `rescue’ work you need fuel.

On the edge of the city is a refinery.   Records show that several loads of fuel are present in tanks there.   Refugees who have passed through the area say there is at least one road tanker in the area, believed to be at a nearby fuel retail outlet.    Alternately you could use a flat bed lorry / lorries and fuel drums.
