Talis – Day 2 – Report.

Government forces and security contractors successfully raided the fuel depot on the Western edge of Talis City today to acquire vital fuel supplies for the few remaining surface to orbit transports.

Government forces consisted of a platoon drawn from the Talis west training centre, led by Senior NCOs from the centre.   They were supported by two platoons of military contractors currently aiding the Government during this emergency.   The mission first moved to the aid of refugee columns leaving the city. Once the road was cleared it is understood that Government forces requisitioned additional transport (a large coach), and an abandoned fuel tanker.

They then proceeded to the fuel depot, and despite constant attacks from the plague victims managed to fill the tanker and retreat to safety.    Many citizens reached safety, and it is understood that several have volunteered to join the forces working to relieve the crisis.    The plague is clearly out of control in the capital.

Day 3 - Next Mission

As the crisis has got significantly worse it is becoming important that the scientists  researching a cure along with their research material and equipment are brought out of the capital.     The remaining Government officials are in similar dire straits and also need to be rescued.  With fuel available the shuttles can now be used for these rescue missions, however, things have now got sufficiently bad that it looks like both missions will have to go ahead simultaneously.

There are believed to be around 30 medical researchers at the hospital who need to be brought out with their equipment.  There are also about 30 patients.   A similar number of Government officials need to be brought out from administration.    There are a lot of `infected’ in the area, with the hospital virtually under siege.

Because of the equipment and sick injured that need to be carried the best solution would be to clear an area outside of the hospital & then use the shuttles to take out the civilians.   Note the hospital roof is not strong enough to take a shuttle, though it might be possible to lower men or equipment onto the roof.

There are security details at both the Hospital and Government complex.   Both groups have barricaded themselves into their buildings, but ammunition is very low, so they are not firing at the `infected’ unless a breach is imminent.

The map attached shows the relative location of the various buildings.   The main road shown continues into the city centre either side of the central park.   Because this is a wide road it is relatively clear.   The two plazas are also clear and are large enough to land shuttles.

Most other minor roads have become blocked with crashed vehicles, looted material etc.  all movement off of the main roads is therefore liable to miring for non-tracked vehicles.   Central Park is however reasonably clear (and might also make a reasonable landing area).
